UCONN’s March Madness Mullins Is 2025 Mr. Basketball From Indiana
Braylon Mullins Is From Greenfield, Indiana
There are moments in history when you remember exactly where you were, how you felt, what you smelled, exactly everything about when the moment happened. For UCONN (University of Connecticut) fans, that moment happened when Freshman Braylon Mullins hit his first three-pointer of the game to put the Huskies up 73-72 over the Duke Blue Devils with less than a second left, sealing their place in The Final Four. I was vacationing in Las Vegas, losing my money on a slot machine, when the entire casino erupted. A freshman named Braylon Mullins just hit an instant classic March Madness shot to knock the Duke Blue Devils out of the tournament. It's the feeling we crave during March Madness, it's the shots we long for during this time of year. It's something people from Indiana understand on a different level, as we are the basketball state after all. Therefore, I wasn't surprised to find out Mr. Clutch 2026 is from the Hoosier state and happens to be the 2025 Mr. Basketball. Additionally, his father, Josh Mullins, played basketball at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI). Miss the game-winning shot? Check out the video below.
How Did Mullins End Up At Connecticut?
Mullins was a heck of a high school ball player, scoring a personal best of 51 points in one game against Pendleton Heights High School. He played in the ever-popular AAU league (Amateur Athletic Union) on elite teams and played in the All-Star Futures game. Mullins graduated from Greenfield Central High School, where his senior year, the basketball team went 23-4. More notably, he shot 47 percent from three-point range that season. He was named a 2025 McDonald's All-American before being named Indiana's Mr. Basketball in April of the same year. Naturally, Mullins was a five-star recruit with schools such as North Carolina, Connecticut, and all the other top dogs seeking his talent. Of course, the Indiana Hoosiers wanted him, but he chose UCONN. As a diehard Hoosier basketball fan, I'd like to take this opportunity to tell the entire Huskie Fanbase that you're welcome. Indiana raised him well.
