Here’s Where to Find Kentucky’s Best Cheap Meal
Going out to eat can cost you an arm and a leg nowadays, but that's not the case at this Kentucky restaurant.
Have you gone out to eat with the family lately? It's insane how expensive it is. My family and I have significantly reduced our eating-out habits over the past couple of years. According to the New York Post, the average American is spending more than $2,500 a year eating out. Even with that, 39% of the population has actually decreased the amount of money that they are spending at restaurants. Some people are even finding loopholes to save a few bucks, like ordering off the kids' menu or couponing. Still, though, it could cost a pretty penny to go out to eat with the family...unless you find a good restaurant that has really great prices.
If you're looking for a satisfying meal at a bargain price, you are in luck. LoveFood recently found the best place for a blue-plate special in each state. Now, before we get into what was named as Kentucky's, you might first be wondering what a blue-plate special is exactly. According to LoveFood:
The term is said to date back to 1892, when the Harvey House chain served discounted meals heaped on disposable blue plates to railroad travelers in the Western states. Traditionally the domain of mom-and-pop joints, they typically include meat and three sides with a complimentary drink – though many modern restaurants have now jumped on the blue-plate train, too.
A blue-plate special is my kind of meal! With that in mind, let's take a look at Kentucky's best restaurant for cheap eats!

This Kentucky Eatery Has the Best Cheap Meal Around
LoveFood says that if you want to find the restaurant with the best cheap meal in Kentucky, you are going to want to venture to Louisville. While there are a lot of great restaurants throughout Louisville, only one stands out for that blue-plate special. That honor goes to The Main Eatery.
Here's what LoveFood had to say about The Main Eatery:
This cheerful spot, located in Kentucky's biggest city, boasts homey interiors, with exposed brick walls and checkered flooring. You can always guarantee you'll find something tasty here, thanks to the daily blue-plate specials. The options are typically meaty and satisfying – think a ham and Swiss sandwich on toasted focaccia, or a charburger with hand-patted ground chuck, both of which are served with chips and salad.
While they have daily blue-plate specials, the entire menu looks amazing at The Main Eatery. You can learn more about Kentucky's best cheap eats by clicking here.
