If you have Honey Smacks in your cabinets, you'll need to check a few numbers on the box to ensure that you are safe.

Kellogg's is recalling the popular brand due to a risk of salmonella poisoning.

WLKY/Louisville reports that the 15.3 and 23 ounce boxes are the potential culprits.

On the 15.3 ounce boxes, look for the code 3800039103. The "best by" dates will run from June 14th 2018 through June 14th 2019.

On the 23 ounce boxes, look for the code 3800014810. The "best by" dates on THOSE boxes will be also be between June 14th 2018 and June 14th 2019.

Area grocers have already pulled their Honey Smacks boxes off the shelves.

Salmonella is a bacterium that has the potential to be fatal in young children, the elderly, or those with compromised immune systems.
