Saturday night was a special night for Keith Urban as it would be for any country artist that officailly becomes a member of the Grand Ole Opry. Urban, I believe, is the first non-North American born artist to be inducted into the Opry which is a shining example of the global reach of country music. No other music genre has anything that even remotely resembles the Opry and being invited to join the Opry is an honor of the highest caliber for any country artist. Urban was joined on stage by friends and fellow Opry members Trace Adkins and Josh Turner along with Opry General Manager Pete Fisher and gave a great acceptance speech.

Urban talks about the meaning behind being a member of the 'Mother Church' of country music and the responsibility that goes along with membership and there is responsibility to become an ambassador for the Opry and country music.

If you have never been to the Grand Ole Opry, it's an experience you will never forget and to become a member, is an honor that goes beyond words. Congratulations, Keith, you deserve it and the Opry is that much better and stronger with you in it. See Urban's induction below.
