
Johnsonville Recalls Thousands of Pounds of Brauts in Indiana and Kentucky
Johnsonville has announced a massive multi-state recall on some of their bratwurst, where you could get more than just a brat when you bite into one.
Recalls are a dime a dozen these days. There seems like there is a new one each day for a vehicle, appliance, or food. Of course, some products that are recalled are more severe than others, but all of them should be noted. In this case, you will want to be aware of this massive Johnsonville bratwurst recall. Look, it's grilling season, and you might be looking to put some brats on the grill, but do so with caution as a result of this multi-state recall that does include Indiana and Kentucky.
Johnsonville Brautwurst Recall
According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service, the biggest name in the bratwurst game, Johnsonville, is recalling several thousand pounds of meat over a contamination concern. The company is recalling approximately 22,672 pounds of the cheddar bratwurst packages that may be contaminated with foreign material, specifically hard plastic.

What Packages Are Recalled?
The Johnsonville cheddar bratwurst item recalled was produced on February 5, 2025. According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service, these packages include five pieces of sausage and the package code B9FOD. The product has the establishment number "Est. 1647" on the front of the label.
These recalled items were shipped to retail locations in Georgia, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio, Tennessee, Virginia, and Wisconsin. So, you might want to check your freezers.
Under this recall, two consumers complained and reported that hard plastic material was found in the bratwurst. As of this writing, there have been no illnesses linked to these products. However, since these meats could be found in many people's refrigerators, the USDA is encouraging folks who have purchased these recalled bratwursts not to eat them.
