Southern Indiana Culinary Arts Restaurant Shares Public Menu
What is Southern Indiana Career & Technical Center?
The Evansville Vanderburgh School Corporation has an amazing campus on Lynch Road that offers a world of opportunity for students. The Southern Indiana Career & Technical Center or SICTC for short opened in 2006. It is one of the top 5 career and technical schools in the United States.
Students from five surrounding counties can take courses at SICTC. There are 22 programs and 10 courses of hands-on study offered to students.
Culinary Arts Courses
Ok, this is a class that makes me want to enroll in high school again. This is not a Home Economics class, students that complete the Culinary Arts courses at Southern Indiana Career & Technical Center earn dual credits from Vincennes University. Some students could jump right into a career from high school, or they could choose to keep expanding their palate. Either way, the hands-on training can set students up for some pretty amazing career options.
Introducing The Lunch Box
The culinary students create delicious lunches that the public is invited to try. The Lunch Box is a restaurant located inside of SICTC. During the school year, The Lunch Box is open for business. Now, this is not your typical school lunch. The menus are quite fancy and affordable too.
The Lunch Box Opening Date: September 12, 2023
The Lunch Box has a very delicious variety of dishes planned for their first week. Each lunch comes with an entre', 2 sides, dessert, and a drink. It's super-affordable at only $8. Keep in mind that they can only accept cash.
Are SICT and New Tech Institute the Same School?
You have probably heard the technical school on Lynch Rd. in Evansville referred to as The Southern Indiana Career & Technical Center [SICTC] or New Tech. These are actually two separate learning areas. NTI is the high school portion of the building.
