Is Your Vehicle One of the Most Stolen Here in Indiana?
A new survey has come up with the cars and trucks most likely to be stolen here in Indiana. Did your car make the list?
It's something that happens almost every day somewhere in Indiana. You go outside to get into your vehicle, and it's gone. Whether stolen from your home, work, or while you're inside shopping somewhere, auto thefts are common. That being said, is your vehicle more at risk of being stolen than others here in Indiana?
Recently, we reported on how some major insurance companies are denying coverage for folks who drive certain Kia and Hyundai vehicles because they are at higher risk of being stolen. Now, let's look at the latest Hot Wheels report that identifies the top ten most stolen vehicles in the United States from The National Insurance Crime Bureau (NICB). As mentioned in the report:
“Used car values are at historical highs,” said David Glawe, President and CEO of NICB. "We have seen a nearly 35% increase in used car values over the last two years due to supply chain issues and inflation. Stolen cars can be shipped overseas and resold or broken down for valuable used car parts here in the U.S.”
Now, this report was released in July of 2022, so the data is from 2021. The 2022 report has yet to be released. For the second year in a row, Chevrolet and Ford full-size pick-ups took the top two spots. U.S. Full Size Pick-Ups accounted for 14% of Vehicles Reported Stolen in 2021. That's not good for me, because my vehicle falls in that category.
That's just on a national level. What about here in Indiana though?
