Select Indiana and Kentucky Taco John’s Locations Testing New Taco Pizza

Residents in select parts of Indiana and Kentucky have the chance to help determine whether or not the rest of the country will get the chance to enjoy a new menu item a Taco John's as the popular fast-food chain is using its locations in those areas to test its take on Taco Pizza.

It's a common practice for chain restaurants to pick a few locations around the country to test new menu items to see how the public responds to them before launching them nationwide. Usually, these tests happen in bigger cities and rarely seem to take place in Indiana or Kentucky. However, it has happened before. McDonald's chose the Evansville area as one of the places it tested its McPizza back in the mid-to-late 80s (which wasn't half-bad if my memory serves me correctly).

Taco John's Testing New Taco Pizza at Select Indiana and Kentucky Locations

Taco John's recently announced it is going to try dabbling in the pizza game with the release of its own Taco Pizza. Unlike the Mexican Pizza at its competitor, Taco Bell, which features a layer of refried beans between two crispy tostada shells and topped with meat, cheese, and chopped tomatoes, the Taco Pizza at Taco John's is essentially a regular pizza with a Mexican twist. According to Chewboom, the Taco Pizza features, "a 10-inch corn and flour crust topped with creamy refried beans, seasoned American beef, and the brand’s four cheese blend all baked to until crispy and melty." It's then topped with Fiesta Sauce, crunchy tortilla chips, shredded lettuce, and diced tomatoes for a total of seven layers of flavor.

Right now, the only way you can try it is if you stop by one of the participating Taco John's locations in Evansville, Indiana, and Paducah, Kentucky (Mankato, Minnesota is also a test market).

It's available for $9.99 or as part of a meal, which includes a small drink for $10.99.

Chewboom does not say how long it will be available, but I assume if it goes over well, the company will release it nationwide as either a permanent or limited-time menu item.
