You could make Travis Sams kiss a pig at the Vanderburgh County Fair as a part of a fundraiser contest.

The 103rd Vanderburgh County Fair is coming up from July 22nd through 27th at the Vanderburgh County Fairgrounds. It's a week packed full of fun for the entire family. Of course, there will be plenty of food, games, rides, and exhibits at the fair. Plus Motocross on Monday, the rodeo on Tuesday, Parmalee in concert on Wednesday, Farmer pulls on Thursday, pro-tractor pulls on Friday, and the demolition derby on Saturday. However, there will also be another event taking place that week that you might not want to miss out on.

The Vanderburgh County Junior Leaders are doing a fundraiser this year to raise money and collect canned goods for the Tri-State Food Bank during the fair. The program is sponsored by Farm Credit and is a state competition between the Junior Leaders of different counties in Indiana. The group that collects the highest amount of food can earn $5,000 for the group from Farm Credit. So they had to get pretty creative to make sure they raise enough money to win...and boy did they!

Kiss a Pig Contest at the Vanderburgh County Fair

The Junior Leaders will be raising money throughout fair week with a "Kiss a Pig" contest. Throughout the week, you can stop by the Junior Leader food booth by the grandstand and make a donation in one of the jars in front of the booth. Each jar will have a photo on there featuring members of the community such as Matt Elrod with the Vanderburgh County Sheriff's Office, Joe Bird with Eyewitness News, and myself (Travis Sams), among others. You can put a monetary donation in the jar of the person who you would like to see kiss a pig anytime during fair week before Thursday at 10 p.m. The person who has the most money in their jar at the end of the week will kiss the champion pig of the fair on Friday before the livestock auction.

Now, do I want to kiss a pig, not really. Will I kiss the pig if you help me collect the most money in my jar? ABSOLUTELY! I'm honored and thrilled to have been asked to be a part of this fundraiser this year. So here's what I need from you:

  1. Go to the Vanderburgh County Fair any time Monday through Thursday.
  2. Stop by the Junior Leaders Food Booth.
  3. Drop your spare change or any money you can into the jar that has my "pretty" face on it.
  4. Don't put money into Joe Bird's jar...I can't let him beat me. (Just kidding, you can donate in any jar you'd like)
  5. Stop by the fair on Friday right before the livestock auction to see who wins. With your help, you might be able to see something like this:

It's as easy as that. We look forward to seeing you at the 2024 Vanderburgh County Fair!

Country Music's Best Living Performers, Ranked — Certified

Who is country music's best living performer? It's a debate country fans have all the time, and there are passionate arguments for any one of a couple dozen stars. Taste of Country's new video series certifies this water cooler discussion.

Singer Stephanie Quayle, radio host Patrick Thomas and ToC writer Carena Liptak assembled 15 candidates and eliminated one at a time, round-robin style. Everyone had one block to use, which means each panelist could stop someone from eliminating an artist. WATCH the full video on YouTube or check out the results below.
