This Thursday October 4th, Albion Fellows Bacon Center invites members of the Gibson County community to Flowers on the Lake, to honor victims of domestic violence.

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and Albion Fellows Bacon Center hopes to raise awareness of domestic violence at their upcoming Flowers on the Lake event. The event will take place on October 4th at 5:30 PM at Lafayette Park.   It will be a ceremony where participants will be able to release flowers into the lake and honor victims of domestic violence,as well as hear from Mayor Brad Schmitt, Gibson Southern's choir, and other community members.  There will also be a team of Crisis Intervention Specialists to speak with people and provide resources to victims.

Albion Fellows Bacon Center invites members of the Gibson County community to Flowers on the Lake, a special evening dedicated to honoring victims of domestic violence.

 

“Domestic violence affects all of us, whether we are aware of it or not. 1 in 3 women and 1 in 4 men in the United States have experienced some level of domestic violence in their lifetime,” says Hannah Brewer, Albion Fellows Bacon Center’s Crisis Intervention Specialist in Gibson County.  “As October is Domestic Violence awareness month, Albion Fellows Bacon Center hopes to raise awareness at Flowers on the Lake.  We invite the public to join us on Thursday, October 4th at 5:30 pm as we gather at Lafayette Park to hear from Mayor Brad Schmitt, Gibson Southern’s choir, and other community members to honor victims and survivors of domestic violence.”

 

As a part of the ceremony, participants will have the opportunity to personally release flowers into the lake and honor victims.  A team of Crisis Intervention Specialists will be on-site to speak with and provide resources to victims of domestic and sexual violence, including stalking and human trafficking.
