The YWCA in Evansville has been a staple part of our community for over 100 years.  They work hard to make sure that women and children are empowered and have a safe place to go if needed. They recently put out a plea on Facebook that they are in need of clothing donations in specific sizes.

On the YWCA Evansville Facebook page, they posted that they currently are in need of these specific items and sizes:

  • T-shirts in sizes 2XL, 3XL, and larger sizes
  • Leggings in sizes 2XL, 3XL, and larger sizes
  • Sweat pants in sizes 2XL, 3XL, and larger sizes

They need these items for residents that are entering their shelter.  If you'd like to make a donation you can drop off the clothes at their front entrance.  The YWCA is located at 118 Vine Street in downtown Evansville.

If you aren't able to make a new clothing donation to the YWCA you can also help them by making a monetary donation through their website YWCAEvansville.org. If you'd like other ways to help support the YWCA and the great work they do in the community, they currently also have a huge fundraiser going on where they're working to build a new state-of-the-art playground. Outside play is very important for childhood development, and the YWCA knows the impact outdoor play can have on a child.  Their playground is old and no longer fits their needs, so the YWCA is fundraising for a new playground.  The new playground will be state of the art and cost around $125,000 to build.  Mattingly Charities heard about the project and immediately hopped on board and will be matching every donation up to $25,000.
