Deaconess Confirms First Positive COVID-19 Result in Tri-State
Deaconess confirmed in a press release that someone in the tri-state area tested positive for COVID-19.
The patient was sent for curbside testing at Deaconess Midtown from one of our outpatient facilities in Henderson. The patient has been contacted, and is doing well on home quarantine.
UPDATE: As of 10:30 AM, The Green River District Health Department (GRDHD) released today that there are two confirmed cases of COVID-19 on the Kentucky side of the river in the tri-state.
One case is a 63 year old female that resides in Henderson County. The second case is a 51 year old male that resides in Daviess County. Both patients are being isolated in their homes until they are well and unable to spread the virus. Health officials from GRDHD are identifying and contacting all those who may have been exposed to the infected people. These individuals will be monitored for fever and respiratory symptoms. The two cases do not appear to be connected at this time. Both patients reported recent travel before the onset of symptoms.
But the good news is there have been much more several negative results.
So, what does this mean? First off, do not panic. We've been told for some time that this virus was in or around the area. The best defense is social distancing. Stay at home and practice good hygiene. This means, cancel the birthday party, no playdates, and no other unnecessary social interactions. It's hard but necessary to keep us all safe!
And, if you are feeling sick, don't leave your home. Deaconess is offering the following:
• Free 24-hour nurse triage line (812-450-6555)
• Free symptom checker in MyChart
• Free Deaconess Clinic LIVE video visits.
And the only way you can get a COVID-19 test is to call the triage hotline at 812-450-6555 and talk to a nurse about your symptoms.
