Lights, Camera, Action! New Christmas Movie Wraps Up Filming in Indiana

Christmas may be several months away, but moviegoers can expect one new holiday flick during the 2024 Christmas season, and honestly, it's about time. I like movies just as much, if not more than the next guy, but can we all agree it's time for some new holiday themed movies? Over the years, I've become somewhat burned out on some of the old favorites like Elf, The Santa Clause, and even classics like Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer.

While I realize there have been some good Christmas movies to hit the big screen in the past decade, I still think there is room for more. The best part about this upcoming film is that it will include some familiar sights for Hoosiers. According to Noble County, Indiana Economic Development, portions of a new film titled "Carol" were recently shot in Albion, specifically the opening and closing sequences.

Specific details about the film are still unclear, but, according to IMDB, the new film is a musical adaptation of the classic tale A Christmas Carol, originally written by Charles Dickens. The movie stars Elias Kemuel as recognizable character "Tiny Tim," along with Robert Amaya as "Christmas Present." You may know Amaya as "Marco" from the 2014 comedy Mom's Night Out.

In addition to recognizable scenery, this new film will also feature some familiar faces. Economic officials in Noble County says this Christmas tale will showcase dancers from the TC Dance Academy for the Performing Arts, which is based in the rural town of Kendallville. Currently, the movie is in post-production, and there doesn't seem to be a hard release date as of yet, however, the film does appear to be slated for a 2024 Christmas season release.
