Boonville- One of the Most Dangerous Cities in Indiana???

Apparently, Boonville is one of the 10 most dangerous cities in Indiana, and I don't buy it.
I mean, it just doesn't seem accurate. Boonville? A dangerous city? I know for a fact that isn't true.

After seeing a lot of my Facebook friends share the post from Housely.com, I thought that I would read why Boonville was voted the second most dangerous city in Indiana. Here is their logic behind this madness:

"Boonville is second in the number of violent crimes committed per capita. It is a smaller town with just six thousand residents so it does not have the same number of violent crimes, but the per capita is equal to that of Indianapolis at eleven per one thousand people or a risk factor of 1.1 out of a hundred."

Housely determined the most dangerous places to live in Indiana by the reported crime rates for the area as well as other characteristics which increase the likelihood of becoming the victim of a crime. The statistics that they used for this study were typically violent and property crimes such as theft and vandalism. Even with that, it still doesn't seem right that Boonville made the top ten and a city like Evansville didn't.

It appears that these cities are ranked per capita, not per number of violent crimes. That makes a little more sense. However, if you have even if you have heard of Boonville, you know that it isn't a town that you would associate crime with. Nowhere in the article does it link back to where they got their information at, so I have to take this information with a grain of salt..

I just have a hard time believing that Boonville is the second most dangerous city in Indiana, especially when I found another article that is based off of FBI data that doesn't have Boonville in the top ten (although Evansville came in at number three).

So, have no fear, the chances of you getting mugged in Boonville are about as likely as they are of you winning the lottery. Don't let this article deter you from visiting Boonville.
