This Evansville, IN Teen Just Did Something That Hasn’t Been Done in Nearly 60 Years
When it comes to good news stories, it seems to me that there are different levels, especially in regard to the way you react. I kind of see the spectrum as going from "oh, that's neat," to "wow, that IS good news," to "whoa, that is great news," to "are you serious?!" to eventually being left speechless. This story, as far as I'm concerned, is definitely one of those "OMG, I don't know what to say" kinds of stories.
The Boys & Girls Club of Evansville recently held its annual Youth of the Year Luncheon where they announced the club member that was recognized as the Youth of the Year for Evansville. Her name is Ai’Zsoni (how beautiful is that?). Well, that was just the beginning of the good news for Ai'Zsoni. She was ready to dominate the next round of the competition, and that is exactly what she did.
Ai'Zsoni recently returned from Indianapolis where she had the chance to spend some time with her peers representing counties from across Indiana while competing for the state title in Indianapolis. The competition included writing essays, giving presentations, and conducting interviews with the judging panel. When it was all said and done, Ai'Zsoni accomplished something that hadn't been done in nearly 60 years - she was named the Boys & Girls Clubs of Indiana 2023 STATE YOUTH OF THE YEAR!
The last Evansville club member to win the state award was Ed Bassemier back in 1964. Ed would go on the win the National Youth of the Year title. Those are some big shoes to fill, but we have no doubt that Ai'Zsoni can do it. She is preparing now to represent Indiana at the regional Youth of the Year competition this summer!
