Boys & Girls Club Recognizes Evansville Teens at Youth of the Year Luncheon
The Boys & Girls Club of Evansville recently held a special luncheon where some very special young people were celebrated - 22 young people to be precise. Those members were recognized for their contributions to family, school, themselves, and the Boys & Girls Club.
Boys & Girls Club Youth of the Year Program
Youth of the Year is the highest honor bestowed upon a Boys & Girls Club member. The selected Youth of the Year has the opportunity to compete in the state-wide Youth of the Year competition happening in April in Indianapolis. The Youth of the Year program was established by Boys & Girls Clubs of America in 1947 and provides state, regional, and national competition levels where ultimately, one Boys & Girls Club youth is honored as the National Youth of the Year and will serve a 1-year term representing Boys & Girls Club across the country.
Who are the Evansville Youth of the Year Winners?
There are two Boys & Girls Club locations in Evansville, and that means one Youth of the Year was chosen from each.

Jada Thompson - Youth of the Year for the Fulton Unit
What's Next for the Youth of the Year?
Youth of the Year is a national program with the Boys & Girls Club of America, which means that winners from clubs all around the country are competing to be the National Youth of the Year. In April, local Youth of the Year winners will compete against other young people from Indiana clubs. State winners will then have the chance to advance to the regional and then, hopefully, the national competition.
Youth of the Year is the highest honor a club member can receive. The national winner will represent all of the Boys & Girls Clubs for the next year. This includes "traveling to address various groups on youth issues and the role Boys & Girls Clubs play in changing young lives."
The mission of the Boys & Girls Club is to enable all youth, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens
