1955 Johnny Cash Song Kicks Off his Career
In 1955 Johnny Cash's tune "cry, Cry, Cry" kicked off his career. It sold over 100,000 copies mostly in the southern states and only made it to # 14 nationally but it got Johnny a spot on the broadcast Louisiana Hayride. This might have been enough to get him started but the Hayride gig teamed him up with another southern boy that was just starting out too--Elvis Presley. They went on concert tour together. Can you imagine seeing that show: Johnny Cash and Elvis Presley! If you missed Johnny's great tune on my "Country Classics" Saturday you can get it here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XHaVmFKnK7w.
