$16,000 + Reward in Henderson, Kentucky ‘Dog Burned Alive’ Case

Last week we told you about Duke, the miniature poodle that had been BURNED ALIVE in Henderson. Now a reward of more than $16,000 has been raised to help find Duke the dog’s killer. The Humane Society of Henderson County intends to start Duke’s Justice Foundation, which will be a reward fund made available for national cases of animal torture. If you have any information, specifically pertaining to any vehicles seen in the Airline Road and Sam Ball Way intersection during the hours of 1:00 a.m. and 3:00 a.m., on June 7, please contact Henderson Police.

It disgusts me to even have to tell you about this story, but we need your help to solve this crime. Imagine your family dog has gone missing. You notify the local humane society, just in case someone picks him up. You put the word out on social media, hoping that someone has seen your little puffball doggie.

That's what happened to Gina Howard of Henderson, KY. Then she got the call that had to be nothing short of devastating. Animal Control and the Henderson Police Department are investigating her dog, Duke's, disappearance as a crime. A crime so awful that again, I hate to even write about.

Sunday, June 7, 2020 at 12:07 P.M. officers with Animal Control and HPD identified a miniature poodle that had been BURNED ALIVE in the men's restroom at Sam Ball Way Fairgrounds. Now, let that sink in for a minute. Someone took this helpless miniature poodle, and set him on fire, then let him die. Wow. There are many studies about the psychology of why people abuse and kill animals, but it's too difficult to wrap my head around.

A GoFundMe account has been set up by Ardee Bell on behalf of Humane Society Of Henderson County.The goal is to arrest and convict the person or persons responsible for this appalling crime. The fundraising goal is $5,000 and as I'm writing this article, they've raised over $5880.

PETA has added up to $5000 to that reward, and Pet Food Center Owner Michael Stepto recently announced his company’s intention to match PETA's reward currently offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for burning someone’s lost pet dog to death in a restroom at the Henderson County Fair Grounds. The Pet Food Center addition brings the total reward offering up to $10,000. Anyone with information concerning this case should call the Henderson Police Department at 270-831-1295.
