Jon Prell

I have been at WKDQ for 13 years and have loved every minute of it. My career started in Southern California and I arrived in Evansville in 1994. I have three children that keep me very busy and the rare opportunity to go out and not have a six foot mouse serving your table is a rare and welcome treat. I love motorcycles and classic country and even host the WKDQ Country Classics show every Saturday from 6-10am. If I can I can ever play a song for you, let me know at wkdq.com.

Why Are Expanded Background Checks for Potential Gun Owners a Bad Thing?

This has been a very difficult week in light of the bombs at the Boston Marathon, the explosion at the fertilizer plant in Waco, TX. and yesterday's defeat in the Senate of a bill that would have expanded background checks to purchase a gun and banned the sale of some semi-automatic weapons like military assault weapons. My question to the Senate is, what's wrong with expanded background checks?

Make No Mistake – Whether Foreign or Domestic, the Boston Marathon Attack Was Terrorism

I am sitting here trying to make sense of the events of the last 24 hours and just like 9/11, I am struggling to understand, as are most of us. One thing that struck me watching the network newscasts last night, was the fact that almost all of them said the White House and Boston city officials were stopping short of calling this a terrorist act, which changed by early evening.

Country Classic Spotlight: Merle Haggard and His Impressions of Marty Robbins, Hank Snow, Buck Owens and Johnny Cash

It is Saturday morning and we are right in the middle of our country classic show live at Grandy's in Henderson. This week, I thought it would be fun to put the spotlight on Merle Haggard. In addition to being a great singer, songwriter and guitarist, Haggard is one heck of a fine impersonator and was every bit as good as people like Frank Caliendo.
