Hey Illinois, Here’s the Most Popular Online Platform Among Teens

Based on how much my youngest son uses this online platform, I have to say I wasn't at all surprised.

I know that the percentages shared are for teens but it's been around so long that they used it when they were kids too.

What I'm saying, is that it has remained popular for years now and seemingly has replaced regular TV as the video viewing medium for teens and kids.

On December 11, Monica Anderson from the Pew Research Center shared the most popular "platforms among teens" and YouTube continues to be the biggest.

While YouTube did experience a decline in use year to year with 95% of teens saying they used YouTube in 2022 to 93% in 2023 it also shows just how popular that platform is with young people aged 13-17.

TikTok, Instagram, Twitter, and Twitch all saw their use percentage decrease in 2023 from 2022 while Snapchat and Discord rose in popularity year over year.

If you're a parent of a teen you shouldn't be surprised. YouTube, Snapchat, TikTok, and Instagram remain the most popular online platforms.

For many people, the question is "Why is YouTube so popular?"

• Leisurely Watch-ability
• It's Personable
• Always Something New

No matter what you're into, or what your interests might be, there's a video and a way to relate.

That might be the real reason why YouTube is so popular, it gives us all a chance to be seen, and that's something we all want regardless of age.
