Were these the worst country radio songs in 2022?

Each year, I do a little reflection on the country music that we were introduced to over the past twelve months, and I share with you the best and worst country songs of that year.  It goes without saying that when I put out these lists, people tend to get a little heated because they don't agree with what made the list. We will have a difference of opinion for sure, but that's the beauty of opinions...everyone has one...and that's why there are so many options in terms of music.

In 2022, we had a lot of great songs in country music. Yesterday, I made my list of the best songs in country music this year. You can take a look at that list by clicking here. That being said, with all of the good, there were some stinkers too. So today, we are going to focus on the worst songs on country radio in 2022. Now I'll admit, some of these songs weren't "bad" per se, but they just lacked something. Some, on the other hand, were just, quite frankly, not good.

For the purpose of this list, we want to focus on singles that were on the charts this year. Again, these are all merely my opinion here. So if I put a song on this list, or leave a song off, don't get heated with me. This isn't a knock on any of the artists whatsoever. I really love traditional-sounding country music. That's just my thing. I also know that a lot of people really like some of the songs on my list. Something about these songs just didn't do it for me. So please, don't get mad at me because I didn't like your favorite song...I have feelings too! Without any further ado, my list of the worst songs in country music for 2022.

10 Country Artists Who Won 2022

We know who won the 2022 ACM and CMA Awards, and we know which country artists won country radio and streaming airplay battles. Who won 2022?

That's a fairly big question, but when we asked our friends on social media, a few names came back consistently. These 10 artists elevated their careers to new heights in 2022, so while our No. 1 winner didn't spend the most weeks at No. 1 or dominate sales charts, her career took off like a rocket. Best Country Albums of 2022 - Critic's Picks

This list of country music's best albums from 2022 separates artists who aim to make great albums from those simply looking to record great songs. Only one artist found below notched a solo No. 1 country airplay hit this year. Popularity doesn't always equal quality.

It’s not that albums from country music’s most notable hitmakers aren’t any good. Count Luke Combs and Thomas Rhett as strong honorable mentions for this list but both were edged out by a group that in some ways didn’t have to worry about the confines of commercial success. Randy Houser and Muscadine Bloodline are independant artists. American Aquarium is too and Ashley McBryde released the sort of album you’d expect from an indy act.

The lesson is country fans need to look deeper for the most daring, creative music of 2022.

Top 22 Country Songs of 2022, Ranked

There are plenty of feel-good country jams on this list of the top country songs of 2022, but the No. 1 song is one of the best love songs of the decade. These 22 songs are ranked by critical acclaim, radio and sales success, and importance to the genre.

Seven of the 22 artists made our Top Country Songs list from 2021, as well, but there are no song repeats. If a song made a previous list (or didn't spend most of its time on the charts in 2022), it's not eligible. So, before you ask where your favorite song is (i.e. Cody Johnson, "'Til You Can't"), be sure the miss isn't just a technicality.
