99.5 WKDQ has teamed up with Liberty Federal Credit Union to show one teacher in the Tri-State each month that the work they're putting in for their students isn't going unnoticed.

Teachers put in a lot of work to make sure their students have all of the tools they need to learn and succeed in life. We want to make sure that we honor those educators here in the Evansville area who sometimes don't get the recognition that they deserve. That's why we, along with Liberty Federal Credit Union, have partnered up to have you nominate your favorite teacher in the Evansville area to be named the WKDQ Teacher of the Month.

WKDQ Teacher of the Month for May 2025

The May 2025 WKDQ Teacher of the Month is second-grade teacher Rachel Hales at Caze Elementary School in Evansville. Mfs. Hales received some very heartwarming nominations from folks she knows, as well as parents of students who really showed that she was beyond deserving of being named the WKDQ Teacher of the Month. Here's one that puts it all into perspective from her husband:

"Rachel deserves to be Teacher of the Month because she's the kind of teacher every student remembers, the one who makes learning feel exciting and safe at the same time. Engaging and full of energy, she brings lessons to life, but it's her support outside the classroom that truly sets her apart. She listens without judgment, offers help without hesitation, and always finds time when a student needs her. Whether it's staying late to explain a tough concept, cheering on her students at their games, or simply being someone they can talk to, she shows up. Her presence is steady, her care is genuine, and her impact lasts long after the final bell." -Trae Hales

There are still plenty of teachers here in the Evansville area who should be honored, so take the time to acknowledge those teachers in your life, as well as your kids', who have really gone above and beyond to leave a lasting impact. Thank you to all of the teachers we have in the Evansville area for all that you do for our youth!
