At the start of 2011, I made some bold predictions as to who we should keep an eye out for in the new year.  The question is, did my predictions hold water?  Let's find out.

Jason Aldean and Luke Bryan

I made the prediction last year that these guys would have a big year.  I don't think you can argue that Jason Aldean has had one of his biggest years to date.  His 'My Kinda Party' album was a huge success and singles like 'My Kinda Party' and 'Dirt Road Anthem' both hit number one.  He did finally get his Male Vocalist nominations as I predicted, but couldn't win it.  Don't worry.  His time will come.  Luke also had a great year, but is still waiting for his big award nominations.  He did hit the road for his first headlining tour in 2011, and is still plugging along on the verge of super stardom.

Duos

I was also right about the success of duos in 2011.  One duo in particular really lit things up, and that

was the team of Thompson Square.  They got some big nominations including their first CMA nomination for Duo of the Year.

Ronnie Dunn

I speculated what would happen to Ronnie on his own, after 20 years with Brooks and Dunn, and it appears he's doing well.  Three singles into his debut solo album, he's racked up some hits.  It's been nothing like the monster hits of Brooks and Dunn, but he's holding his own.

Gloriana

Well, I can't nail every one right.  These guys had a rough go of it in 2011, having big hopes for their new album, but falling short with their first two singles.  On top of that, they lost a member, as Cheyanne Kimball left the band.

American Idol Stars

Boy was I right on this one.  It may not have been the stars I thought would be pounding on the doors (where is Crystal Bowersox anyway?), but the great run to the finals by Scotty McCreery and Lauren Alaina has made country fans stand up and take notice.  These youngsters have a long career ahead of them.  Also, Casey James, whom I mentioned last year, made a stop in the Tri-State for Taste of Country 2011, and is still working his first single.  He should still make some noise in 2012.

Well, looks like overall, I didn't do all that bad.  2012 predictions will be coming soon, and we can start the watch process once again!
