They are goofy. They are ridiculous. They are terrible (I can say that, because I made them up). They are the Nashville News, Food News, and What's Goin' On jingles.

If you're a regular listener of our show, you've likely heard one or more of the jingles in the video above that open each their respective segments. It all started as a spur-of-the-moment joke with Food News. As the segment became a regular feature of the show some time ago, I casually mentioned to Leslie on air that I thought it should have some sort of theme song. Without missing a beat, she challenged me to create one on the spot. After thinking about it for a few seconds, I began clapping my hands for a beat, and made up the words on the spot. That was it. I never intended it to stick around long, but then something strange happened; people would come up to me at live broadcasts or comment on Facebook saying how much they enjoyed it. So I kept doing it. Give the people what they want, right?

As time went on, we added Nashville News as a regular segment of the show, and I felt obligated to create a theme for that as well. Since the segment is all Country Music news, it only made sense to give it an old school, Country-Western vibe. What's Goin' On, our daily segment about some of the more odd things happening in the world, followed, and again, I felt like it deserved its own special theme. What was supposed to be more of a Marvin Gaye vibe somehow turned into a terrible Scott Stapp (lead singer of the rock band Creed) impersonation, but it felt right so we went with it.

Over time, more people have spoken up saying they get a kick out of them, and one person even mentioned on Facebook they like to sing along with them. That gave us an idea, why not give you a shot at putting your own spin on them?

So here's what we'd like you to do. The video above is montage of all three jingles I taped myself doing live on the air recently. Watch it to get the feel for the tone and the beat of each. Then open the WKDQ app, and go through the following steps to record your own version.

What's Goin' On

What's goin' on...Oh, what's goin' on.

It's a big ol' crazy world out there,

And this is what's goin' on, oh yeah.

Have fun with it. Grab the kids and have them sing with you, or have them sing their own version, or both. If you play an instrument of some sort and think it will add something, throw it in there! Have friends or other family members join in for group effort. Harmonize it. Go wild. Make each one you're own thing. Leslie and I can't wait to hear what you come up with!
