The 1960s was the greatest decade for cheesy 'B' horror and Sci-Fi movies. The king of those movies was without a doubt the Godzilla franchise. There were so many of these movies, with each version being even cheesier than the last...they were awesome and I watched every one of them. The first one came out in 1954, but the bulk of them were done in the 60s even though new versions constantly appeared in the 70s, 80s, 90s and 00s. The original concept behind the movies was to show what effects a hydrogen bomb might have on other life forms.

The special effects of Godzilla destroying Tokyo were as cheesy as the movies themselves, yet we just kept watching. In one movie, Godzilla and King Kong went head to head in a battle of epic proportions.

The newest version will hit theaters in May of 2014 and could be the best and most realistic version yet, at least if the trailer teaser is any indication. The best thing my son Baylor and I share in common is a great love of the Godzilla franchise despite our age difference. We will be first in line for this one!! See the trailer teaser and a 50 year tribute video below.
