Having a beard-free face is a long-standing rule in the dress code of the Vanderburgh County Sheriff's Department, but it was removed temporarily for a fundraising event.

Lt. Chris Roe approached Sheriff Noah Robinson to see if he would be open to relaxing the clean-shaven face rule for a one-month fundraising event. Sheriff Robinson agreed to the No Shave November campaign. Deputies were allowed to grow out their beards, even neckbeards, as long as each one made a donation.

A total of seventy-seven deputies took part in the fundraising effort. This brought in a total of $2,300. During the 911 Gives Hope for the Holidays toy drive, Sheriff Robinson presented the money to two deserving charities.

Will the Deputies Shave Now?

Unfortunately for Lt. Roe and the other deputies who have grown to like their facial hair, it has to go. Yes, it is back to regular dress code standards for the Sheriff's Department.
