V.E.T. Invites Community to Honor and Celebrate Kentucky Veterans at Annual Military Ball
V.E.T. also known as Veterans Empowered Together is a non-profit organization made up of local veterans who have been fostering the Daviess County community of service men and women since their inception in November of 2021.
Getting together regularly for coffee and conversations at Windy Hollow Biscuit, hosting and supporting tri-state veteran's events, V.E.T. also hosts fundraisers for the county like collecting toys for children for Christmas with Fill the Humvee that takes place December 9th. They've also started The Bridges Program which provides equine therapy services to active duty military personnel, their families, and veterans.
Coming up on November 17th, V.E.T. is hosting the second Military Ball at the Owensboro Convention Center. The whole community is invited to attend the celebration and to honor veterans by supporting the mission of Veterans Empowered Together. Organizers are hoping to see new faces as everyone is welcome military or not. This is a great opportunity to support local veterans.
A red carpet social hour and silent auction will begin at 6 pm and then the formal program and dinner will begin. The Presentation of Colors and a moment to honor each branch of the armed forces will kick off the evening's events with a traditional ceremony of formal toasts and sword cake cutting.
The featured speaker for the night is Maj. Edward Pulido, a U.S. Army veteran with an incredible story. After surviving an explosion in Iraq in 2004, his left leg was amputated and he medically retired. According to his website, for his bravery and heroism, he was awarded a Bronze Star with Valor, a Purple Heart, Meritorious Service Medal, and others over the years as he began advocacy work for veterans.
Then Jeff Boling of Bo Knowz Muzic & Eventz will get the party going! A huge thanks to premier sponsor Independence Bank, as well as American Legion Post 9, AMVETS Post 75, and Southern Star Central Gas Pipeline. Because of them, proceed from ticket sales will go directly to local veterans organizations and V.E.T. to continue the wonderful things they do in the community.
There is no cost for active duty military and veterans to attend. Tickets for the general public are available for $65 each on the Veterans Empowered Together website through this coming Friday, Nov. 3.
