These Country Stars Can Tell You How to Get to ‘Sesame Street’ [PICTURES]
Sesame Street celebrates its 50th anniversary in 2019. Since launching in November of 1969, the show has featured some of the biggest stars in music, entertainment and pop culture -- including plenty of country artists.
Waylon Jennings, the Dixie Chicks and including Garth Brooks (twice!) are only a few of the country stars who have learned how to get to Sesame Street over the years. An appearance on the educational children's TV show is a rite of passage, and a nod to the success of the artists that have been tapped over the years to lend their talents.

Garth Brooks
1995Brooks appeared on Sesame Street twice, once to sing about "Different Friends" and, later, to wrangle some Muppets in "We Make Music."
Mary Chapin Carpenter
1995Carpenter shares a lesson about self-esteem in the song "Really, Really, Really Glad I'm Me."
Johnny Cash
1985The Man in Black first appeared during the fifth season of Sesame Street to sing "Nasty Dan" with Oscar the Grouch. Cash returned in 1992 to sing "Five Feet High and Rising."
Dixie Chicks
2002The Dixie Chicks were on Sesame Street to help celebrate the 25th anniversary of the show in 2002 with a parody of their hit song "I Can Love You Better" -- re-made as "No Letter Better Than B" -- and a remake of "Sing," with the Sesame Street Chickens.
Waylon Jennings
1992Jennings appeared as a truck driver in the Sesame Street movie Follow That Bird in 1985, but he came back to the show in 1992 to perform a duet with his previous co-star, Big Bird.
Alison Krauss & Union Station
2005Krauss and Union Station joined the Sesame Street cast to perform "Sesame Jamboree" in 2005.
Loretta Lynn
1981Lynn shared a tender duet, "Count on Me," with Count Von Count in one of her two appearances on Sesame Street.
Martina McBride
2004McBride had an adventure in imagining with Elmo while singing "That's Pretending" on Sesame Street in 2004.
Brad Paisley
2007Paisley appeared in the holiday special Elmo's Christmas Countdown in 2007, singing "Jingle Bells" with Grover, whom the artists says is his favorite Sesame Street star. Paisley returned to Sesame Street in 2011 with his wife, actress Kimberly Williams-Paisley, for the Growing Hope for Hunger special.
Thomas Rhett
2019Rhett made a trek to Sesame Street in 2019 to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the children's show.
Sugarland
2007Sugarland appeared on Sesame Street in 2007. They sang "Songs" with Elmo.
Randy Travis
1990Travis made two appearance on Sesame Street: He sang the songs "How Should I Tell You I Love You" and "You've Gotta Ask Some Questions."
Carrie Underwood
2009Underwood made her debut on Sesame Street in 2009, voicing the character of Carrie Underworm, who appears at the Squirmadega Car Race and performs the "Worm Anthem."
