Throughout the state of Indiana, there are hundreds of festivals held annually.  Some are big, some are small, and some are downright interesting. Of course, in the Evansville area, we are very familiar with the West Side Nut Club Fall Festival which takes place during the first week of October every year.  Then there are more unique Hoosier festivals like the Amateur Circus Festival in Peru, Indiana.   There's even a week-long Halloween festival in Indiana as well. But one festival is bigger than the rest, and this annual festival welcomes more than 2 million people annually, can you guess which festival it is?

The Countdown to Indiana's Largest Festival is On

We may just be getting into the summertime, but for many folks, summer is just the season that comes before fall.  Fall seems to be when things really kick off in the Hoosier state.  Many festivals and events take place in the fall, the leaves begin to change color, and parts of Indiana are home to stunning fall foliage that people travel from all over to enjoy.  This is when the annual Parke County Covered Bridge Festival takes place, and if you're counting, it's about 149 days away (from May 15th).

Parke County Covered Bridge Festival

The largest festival in the state is none other than the Parke County Covered Bridge Festival.  This festival is so big that it spans across several communities over 10 days. There's everything from delicious food, to vendors selling unique items, gorgeous fall foliage, and of course the historic covered bridges.

150 DAYS till Indiana's Largest Festival, The Parke County Covered Bridge Festival! October 11-20, 2024

This fall festival takes place in nine communities in Parke County, Indiana. It celebrates the county's 31 covered bridges and is attended by more than 2 million people each year. It begins on the 2nd Friday in October and lasts 10 days. The festival began in 1957 when a group of local women decided to hold a three-day festival to accommodate the many interested tourists looking for information about the bridges.
