Take a ride on a real train in Southern Indiana to "Summerville," a place where summer never ends, with fun summertime activities.

The French Lick Scenic Railway hosts sever family-friendly events throughout the year that include the Dinosaur Adventure Train and the Polar Express Train Ride. If you have ever been a part of any of these fun events at the French Lick Scenic Railway, you know how memorable and entertaining they are. While both events are happening in 2023 again, there is another really cool event that the railway is hosting this summer that you might want to add to your summertime bucket list.

French Lick Scenic Railway Summer Splash Bash

Mark your calendars for July 22nd and 23rd for the Summer Splash Bash with French Lick Scenic Railway. According to French Lick Scenic Railway's website, this is what you can expect from the Summer Splash Bash:

<div>Do you love summer? Is it your favorite time of the year? Do you wish summer would last all year long? </div><div> </div><div>Join us for the SUMMER SPLASH BASH. This event will take fun seekers of all ages on a real train bound for Summerville, a place where summer never ends.</div><div> </div><div>Some of the activities will include a foam cannon, inflatable water slides, mini-golf, temporary tattoos, and more!</div>

French Lick Scenic Railway

Guests to the Summer Splash Bash will board the train at the French Lick Depot and depart on a 40-minute ride to the Summerville Event Site. Then, passengers will depart the train for 70 Minutes of fun-filled adventure before re-boarding the train for the return trip to French Lick.

Outside the major cities, the Hoosier state is full of tiny little towns you've probably passed through on your way to one of those cities. Most of them are likely 100 to 150 years old, or older, and have been around far longer than the large metropolitan areas such as Indianapolis, Fort Wayne, South Bend, and Evansville. Typically, they were started by early settlers who found their way to the state and decided to make it home. Eventually, others would join them, and a community was formed. Over time, as the surrounding areas grew, most of them were folded into those areas and governed by the nearest city or county's governing body officially making them "unincorporated," meaning they did not have their own formally organized municipal government.

A scroll through Wikipedia's long list of unincorporated communities in Indiana shows several of them have names that by today's standards would be considered weird, quirky, or just downright right funny. These are my 40 favorities.
