Stunning Drone Footage Shows Aftermath of Massive Southern Indiana Warehouse Fire [WATCH]

One day after a massive, three-alarm fire broke out at an Evansville warehouse, drone footage captured by an Evansville resident gives us an incredible look at the damage it created.

Massive Warehouse Fire Breaks Out in Downtown Evansville Early Monday Morning

Firefighters from the Evansville Fire Department (EFD) arrived on the scene around 4:30 AM Monday morning to see the old Morton Avenue Warehouse on the corner of East Illinois and North Morton Avenue completely engulfed in flames. The fire was so large, they needed assistance from the Henderson Fire Department which provided an additional truck to help get the blaze under control. Our media partners at Eyewitness News had a cameraperson on the scene who captured video of the fire as crews worked to put it out.

Smoke from the fire could be seen for miles by residents in Posey, Henderson, Warrick, and even Gibson Counties.

Nearly five hours later, just before 9:30 AM, EFD District Chief Mike Larson announced that while there were several hot spots and small fires still burning, the fire had been contained and was under control. Crews remained on the scene throughout the day and into the night to fully extinguish both the hot spots and the remaining flames.

Drone Footage Shows the Full Extent of the Destruction Left Behind

Mike Fetscher, a Digital Media Coordinator for the University of Southern Indiana, was given permission to fly his drone over the site where the warehouse once stood and captured some incredible video footage of how destructive the fire was and what little is left of the warehouse it engulfed.

Mike was nice enough to let me share the video here with you. As you can see from a few still images I grabbed from the video, there are only a few exterior walls still standing along with piles of mangled, burnt steel from where the ceiling and other walls collapsed, as well as piles of ash that were once whatever was stored inside the warehouse.

Check out the full video to see just how incredibly powerful this fire was to a building that had stood for decades.

Mike also used his drone to capture a 360-degree, panoramic view of the lot as firefighters continued to work on putting it out completely.

Fortunately, no one was hurt in the fire. Both the Evansville Fire Department and the Evansville Police Department have opened investigations to try and determine was caused the fire to begin in the first place.
