A couple from Boonville, Indiana got more than they bargained for when they rented a U-Haul truck recently. You won't believe what they found inside.

It's no secret that I am very afraid of snakes. That being said, I do understand there are some benefits to keeping them around. However, if I were to see one in my yard, I would instinctively run away. I want nothing to do with those nope ropes! If you are as terrified of snakes as I am, let me ask you this...what would you do if you found a giant snake in a place that you'd never expect?

That's exactly what happened to a couple from Boonville recently when they rented a U-Haul truck. You might have an idea of where this is going, and yes, they found a snake in the truck. Not just any snake, but a massive boa constrictor...or a python. I don't know...either way it's MASSIVE!

Boa Constrictor Found in Southern Indiana U-Haul Truck

Shaun and Andi Waters of Boonville, Indiana recently rented a U-Haul truck in Evansville. Shaun tells me that when they arrived, the attendant was visibly shaken. Upon arrival, the attendant then asked them if they liked snakes, which Shaun says is a profound NO. That's when the couple was informed that there was a snake under the passenger seat of the truck that they were going to be renting. Take a look at the size of this snake!

Here's the thing, according to one of Andi's posts, the people who rented the truck before them did not have a snake. So how did this thing get there? That is still a mystery. Here's what Shaun said about what happened upon discovering the snake:

Animal control was closed (according to the attendant) and my wife Andi did not want to see the snake overheat in the treat any longer. So we went to work for about 45 minutes to get the snake out from under the passenger seat. I called the non-emergency dispatch line and they were going to attempt to contact Animal Control.

Mr. Russell with Animal Control arrived about 15 minutes after we had retrieved the snake. Don't worry though because he had a kitty litter bucket and a small little extendable hook (about 3 inches at the end to grab the snake with. Like the little gophers that short people use to grab a can out of a tall cabinet with).

Thankfully, Andi recorded the whole experience. You can check it out in the videos below. (Caution: There might be some NSFW language in these videos...which would be the case if I were there too.)

In case you were wondering what happened to the snake, Andi followed up with a post that says:

U-Haul update:

Called animal control to check on how they are doing- the lady told me there is a holding period and then they give their snakes to the Tri-State Herpetological Society.

Hopefully, U Haul finds a good family (or her old one?) and lives happily ever after.

The end. Moral of the story: check your rentals.

Another update:

Apparently the U-Haul company called the wrong people at first. The snake DID belong to the previous renters and is back home safe and sound.

SEE: 15 Animals You Cannot Own in Evansville

I got the idea for this after seeing an article by Michelle Heart with our Townsquare Media sister-station, 107.9 Lite-FM in Boise, Idaho. She had discovered several animals residents in that city can't own based on city codes she found online which got me thinking about whether Evansville had any regulations that were similar. Obviously, they did or this article wouldn't exist. Chapter 14, Article 3, section 42 and 43 spell out a lengthy list of exotic animals you can get in trouble owning if local officials find out. You can see the entire list on the city's website. These are the 15 I found to be the most interesting.
