Report: Luke Bryan Offered Gig as ‘American Idol’ Judge
We just got one step closer to seeing Luke Bryan as a judge on the new season of American Idol.
TMZ reports that the producers of American Idol have officially made Bryan an offer to come on board for the upcoming season alongside Katy Perry. It's not clear whether he has responded or what his decision might be.
According to TMZ, American Idol is paying Perry $25 million, and Ryan Seacrest is receiving around $15 million to return as host. Sources tell TMZ that the next-highest-paid star on the reality singing competition would probably get offered around $6 million.
Country Singers Who Were Rejected by American Idol
The Hollywood Reporter reported in July that Bryan, Lionel Richie and Charlie Puth were all under consideration to join the judges’ panel. Perry is the only judge confirmed for the show so far, and auditions reportedly had to be pushed back recently.
ABC shocked fans when it announced it was reviving Idol for the 2018 season, only two years after Fox canceled the show. Keith Urban has said he would consider returning to the show, but it's not clear if he's been under consideration. Urban skirted the question when he spoke to CMT, saying, "There’s a lot of moving parts."
"That’s a good political answer, isn’t it?" Urban added. "But it’s also quite true of the state of it right now. There’s a lot of moving parts in everybody’s camps. We’ll see what happens."
