I've always wanted to take a railbike tour because they look like so much fun. If you've never heard of a railbike, it's a pedal-powered "bike"  that follows train tracks so you don't have to steer and can take in the views as you pedal along.

According to Travel and Leisure, railbikes are a great way for places to make use of defunct railroad tracks.

Railbiking is a low-impact form of exercise, appropriate for people of all ages and abilities. Quiet and peaceful, it features beautiful terrain and is nonpolluting. As a bonus, it makes use of defunct railroad tracks, providing a unique view of nature that you might not otherwise experience.

Over the past few years, it seems the popularity of railbiking has skyrocketed, and if you've ever wanted to experience a ride on a railbike, you don't have to travel too far.

Nickel Plate Express Railbike Rides

The Nickel Plate Express is located in Noblesville and works to help preserve the history of the railroads in the area.  They offer train and railbike excursions, both of which can give you a unique view and experience in the Hoosier state.

For Railbike Rides they offer three different excursions.  The Forest Park Rail Adventure which winds you through woods and farmland.  The White River Family Cruise will take you over the White River and into downtown Noblesville.  Then there is the Twilight Rail Adventure which is an evening railbike ride.
