Who is the Grey Lady That Haunts Willard Library?

Willard Library opened its doors in 1885 and was one of the first public libraries to open in Indiana.  The gorgeous Victorian Gothic-style building holds a wealth of history, as well as legends of a ghost that has haunted the halls for nearly a century.  So, who is Evansville's famous ghostly lady?  Many speculate that it is the ghost of Louise Carpenter, the daughter of Willard Library's founder.

The first report of a ghost at the library took place in the early 1930s when a maintenance man bumped into a woman wearing a long dress.  The problem?  He was the only person in the building at the time.  Ever since that fateful night, legends of the haunting lady in grey have surrounded Willard Library.
