One of America’s Most Famous Restaurants is in Indiana
Indiana is apparently home to one of the most famous restaurants in America. You may not have dined there, but you have certainly heard of it.
There are a lot of famous restaurants throughout the country. No, I'm not talking about the big name chain restaurants that everyone knows about because they're in practically every town. I am talking about resturants that have become a must visit place whenever you visit a city. Most of them are found in bigger cities like Chicago or New York, but there are a few scattered all across the United States that have garnered quite the reputation over the years. According to Mashed:
The most famous restaurants in the country run the gamut of the dining experience. Some are stands where you can get your food in minutes and enjoy it on a nearby picnic table. Others are meticulously designed spaces that host diners sitting at white-clothed tables for hours. Some are steeped in history. Others have amassed a considerable amount of fame in just a few short years.
So, Mashed put together a list of the most famous restaurants in the country. As it turns out, Indiana is actually home to one of those. Now, just saying that, you might already be able to guess which restaurant it is.
One of America's Most Famous Restaurants is in Indiana
That honor goes to St. Elmo Steak House in downtown Indianapolis. This establishment is pretty iconic here in Indiana. You'll see some of their products sold in grocery stores throughout the state, and it even made national television when it was featured on the NBC sitcom Parks and Recreation.
Here's what Mashed says about St. Elmo Steak House:
<p>While customers certainly come for the steak, the restaurant's must-have menu item is its shrimp cocktail. St. Elmo refers to it as "world famous" on its menu and reminds patrons that most meals at the establishment begin with an order of the four jumbo shrimp and a spicy signature cocktail sauce.</p><p>Every entrée at St. Elmo Steak House comes with either a glass of tomato juice or a bowl of Navy Bean soup, consisting of beans, ham, tomatoes, and parsley. Since the restaurant has been around so long, no one is entirely sure where this peculiar tradition originated. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.</p>
Now, I must admit that I have never been to St. Elmo Steakhouse, but I have heard nothing but good things about it. The steakhouse is one that I would love to visit the next time I visit. While I would love to enjoy that Tomahawk Rib-eye, I might venture for a cheaper option. Speaking of St. Elmo Steakhouse, they sell some of their seasoning, sauces, and liquor in stores all throughout Indiana. I've tried their Root Beer Gaze on pork chops and it is delicious!
I'm also a big fan of bourbon, and one that I have seen on the shelf that I plan on trying soon is the St. Elmo Steakhouse Cherry Vanilla Burbon. It sounds so good!
