Summer Splash Bash Returns to French Lick Scenic Railway

Take a train ride to "Summerville" for a day full of inflatable water slides, mini-golf, a foam cannon, and more summer fun!

The French Lick Scenic Railway hosts sever family-friendly events throughout the year that include the Dinosaur Adventure Train and the Polar Express Train Ride. If you have ever been a part of any of these fun events at the French Lick Scenic Railway, you know how memorable and entertaining they are. While both events are happening in 2024 again, there is another really cool event that the railway is hosting this summer that you might want to add to your summertime bucket list.

Mark your calendars for July 20th and 27th for the Summer Splash Bash with French Lick Scenic Railway. According to French Lick Scenic Railway's website, this is what you can expect from the Summer Splash Bash:

Enjoy a 2.5-hour long experience where summer never ends. Journey to Summerville and have a radical time with some of our activities such as inflatable water slides, mini-golf, temporary tattoos, a foam cannon, and MORE! This isn’t just for the little dudes; this is for the big dudes as well!

Here's a little sample of what you can expect from the Summer Splash Bash from last year's events:

Guests to the Summer Splash Bash will board the train at the French Lick Depot and depart on a 40-minute ride to the Summerville Event Site. Then, passengers will depart the train for 70 Minutes of fun-filled adventure before re-boarding the train for the return trip to French Lick.

Outside the major cities, the Hoosier state is full of tiny little towns you've probably passed through on your way to one of those cities. Most of them are likely 100 to 150 years old, or older, and have been around far longer than the large metropolitan areas such as Indianapolis, Fort Wayne, South Bend, and Evansville. Typically, they were started by early settlers who found their way to the state and decided to make it home. Eventually, others would join them, and a community was formed. Over time, as the surrounding areas grew, most of them were folded into those areas and governed by the nearest city or county's governing body officially making them "unincorporated," meaning they did not have their own formally organized municipal government.

A scroll through Wikipedia's long list of unincorporated communities in Indiana shows several of them have names that by today's standards would be considered weird, quirky, or just downright right funny. These are my 40 favorities.
