Genius! How to Make a Big Batch of Toast for Your Indiana Family
As simple as toast is to make, there is one toasting hack that could be a game changer when it comes to preparing breakfast for your family.
Enjoying buttered toast has become a reoccurring phase at my house. There might be a short span when my wife and I use the toaster every morning, going through an unreasonable amount of bread, butter, and jam each week. However, there are other times when my toaster sits in the bottom cabinet untouched for months at a time. Perhaps the joy of toast is constantly rediscovering its delicious simplicity.
Regardless of how often I indulge in this easy breakfast staple, there is one hack my wife found online that I cannot believe I hadn't thought of before. When we have brunch with friends and family, we often make a large batch of toast in our oven by placing six-to-eight slices of bread on a metal sheet pan. We do the same for making a batch of garlic bread to go with spaghetti during weeknight dinners. However, what I didn't know until recently was that I was doing it all wrong.
In the above video, you can see someone placing bread vertically onto a sheet pan, utilizing the slots in the oven grate for support. This not only toasts both sides evenly, but it also requires no flipping and allows you to prepare a much larger batch using one pan. While it may require a little oven grate cleaning later on, especially if you've buttered your bread beforehand, this seems to be a worthwhile hack. In fact, I will definitely be trying this sooner rather than later. What do you think?
