How Long is Lincoln State Park’s Beach Open for Late Summer Swimming?- Indiana State Parks
With school back in session, it's harder to find public places to swim, but one southern Indiana beach is open for a little bit longer!
Late Summer Swimming
The other day my husband and I were talking about we didn't get a chance to go swimming yet this summer, and we wanted to take our son to the pool. The problem is with school being back in session, it's harder to find a public pool that's still open. Most neighborhood pools in Evansville are closed, Hartke Pool is already drained for the season, and Burdette is closed. So unless we know someone with a pool, we're kind of out of luck. While this isn't a pool, there is a beach in Southern Indiana that's open for a few more weeks.
Lincoln State Park Beach
If you're wanting to soak up some sun and take a swim the beach at Lincoln State Park is still open, and will remain open through Labor Day. So we've got a few weeks left to still enjoy some Southern Indiana swimming!
Just recently the beach was closed for two days out of an abundance of caution, but the beach is back open!
Good News! Test results have returned with E. Coli Levels safe for recreating. The swimming area has reopened as of 4:15 8/9/23. This is an uncommon occurrence at our beaches and is entirely different than the program that provides alert levels related to blue-green algae. Higher than normal levels happen occasionally as the result of sampling procedure, or as the result of an increase in nutrients in the water after a heavy rain. Thanks for your patience.
