Renaissance Fairs

I've always wanted to dress up, drink some mead, and enjoy a Renaissance festival, but I've never had the chance to. This year I'm changing that, and there are eight weekends throughout this summer that I'll have the opportunity to change that and attend my first Renaissance festival.

Now before we dive into the Kentucky Renaissance Festival, what is a Renaissance Festival/Fair? Wise Tour describes them as:

A Renaissance Festival is a vibrant, immersive journey back to the days of knights, jesters, and troubadours. It's where history meets fantasy, with period costumes, hearty feasts, and jousting tournaments. Artisans showcase ancient crafts, and minstrels fill the air with music.

The Kentucky Highland Renaissance Festival

For eight weekends over the summer, the Kentucky Highland Renaissance Festival will be taking place in Eminence, Kentucky. Each weekend will have a different theme. While they haven't announced the themes of each weekend yet, I found the themes from last year, and my gosh does it sound fun! Last year they had everything from a pirate weekend to a Viking weekend.

According to the Facebook event page, this event will run from June 1st to July 21st. When looking at the Kentucky Highland Renaissance Festival's website I saw things like jousting, archery, and much more so I can imagine the 19th annual event will be huge!
