Kentucky College Student Decorates Houses For Christmas To Help Pay For School
One Kentucky College Student is taking advantage of his love for Christmas lights and talent for decorating and helping his parents to pay his way through school.
MEET CARTER HOAGLAND
Carter Hoagland, from right here in Owensboro has loved decorating for Christmas for several years now. Carter became Owensboro famous when he decided he would put up Christmas lights in the midst of COVID to bring cheer to such a dreary time.
His momma, Krista, says one year after Christmas he asked if they could go out shopping and purchase all the Christmas items on sale and stock up. This began what has turned into an amazing and beautiful hobby and now a job that benefits the whole community.
LIGHTING HIS WAY THROUGH COLLEGE
What started out as just a fun hobby has actually helped Carter in a big way. He is attending school at Kentucky Wesleyan College here in Owensboro where he plays soccer. Since he started decorating others have taken notice of his talents and he is decorating houses for others. He decorates several houses and uses the money for school and to pay for more lights. His mom says he mows in the summer as well to help raise money.
GAINING SWEET LITTLE FANS FROM ALL OVER
Carter's mom said that last year the kids loved walking on the tree farm walkway Two little girls enjoyed it so much that they sent Carter a note with a gift card attached to thank him for what he has done. Families post photos all over social media after they visit because they appreciate his hard work and love for Owensboro so much.
EVERYONE IS INVITED TO STOP BY
Carter and his family love to see everyone that walks or drives by to see the lights. You are invited to do the very same. They live at 2451 Hillbrooke Parkway in Owensboro.
