Kelly Clarkson turned to social media on Thursday (April 18) to address rumors of a supposed feud between her and Carrie Underwood, clarifying that there is no truth to those reports.

Clarkson posted to Twitter to share the cover of Star magazine, which features a split picture of Underwood and Clarkson with the headline, 'Secret Feud Explodes!' She defused the inaccurate tabloid article with humor, writing, "Someone just sent me this & I’m like why does she get the good pic & I have the worst expression I’ve ever made w/zero muscles being used in my face ha!"

"I officially have a feud w/whoever used this pic!" Clarkson adds. "At least give me a good pic if y’all are gonna be lying is all I’m sayin’."

Tabloid reports of a feud between the two superstars are nothing new, predicated on the notion that the former American Idol champions have a bitter career rivalry. Clarkson has disputed those rumors before, and she even joined Underwood on the red carpet at the 2018 Radio Disney Awards for a series of photos to try to dispel the inaccurate reports.

"Everybody always tries to pit me and Carrie against each other," she told Entertainment Tonight afterward. "So, when I saw her I was like, ‘You know what? Let’s just end this right now and get a picture together because we are never in the same place.' And, like, it never happens. And people always try to put it together like we’re enemies. And I’m like, ‘We don’t even know each other well enough to be enemies.' So, anyway, I went to get a picture and then everybody lost their mind."

Clarkson and Underwood previously exchanged tweets in April of 2018 after a website asked readers to vote on which one of them was the greatest American Idol winner of all time, with Underwood writing that she wished "more publications would just celebrate women’s success without pitting them against each other."
