If you’re a golfer here in Southern Indiana, chances are you already know just how breathtaking the courses are at the French Lick Resort. Don’t you think it’s about time the rest of the country realized what we’ve got?
A National Spotlight On French Lick Golf
The legendary Pete Dye Course has officially been nominated for “Best Public Golf Course” in the 2026 USA TODAY 10Best Readers’ Choice Awards! Now, unlike a typical round of golf, this is one competition where the high score actually wins. That means votes. Lots and lots of votes.
The Story Behind The Pete Dye Course
If you’ve ever played the Pete Dye Course, you know it’s not your average day on the links. It’s nicknamed the “napkin course” because legendary architect Pete Dye first sketched the design on the back of a cocktail napkin. Fast forward to 2009, and that vision became a championship-level course known for its dramatic elevation changes, narrow fairways, and rugged terrain. It’s challenging. It’s stunning. And it’s absolutely unforgettable.

That’s exactly why we need Hoosiers – especially those of us here in Southern Indiana – to rally behind this hometown gem.
