When the Owensboro Convention Center opened 11 years ago in 2014 (hard to believe), I was wondering how long it would take for this world-class events facility to live up to its billing.

Owensboro Convention Center

It took hardly any time at all, as we all know. The venue has been the centerpiece of nearly every major event held in downtown Owensboro. And it cuts a fine figure as part of the city's skyline when you come back across the Blue Bridge from Indiana. (And you'll get to do that again in January.)

While locals sing its praises, the Owensboro Convention Center is also receiving major love from readers of ConventionSouth, a leading meetings/events publication that has been reporting on venues as well as trends and news about venues since 1983. Sixteen southern states comprise the magazine's beat, and you can bet there are tons of venues to choose from when you're handing out trophies.

Owensboro Convention Center Wins National Award

But all others can eat Owensboro Convention Center's dust, because the ConventionSouth Reader's Choice Award now rests comfortably with the beloved downtown venue.

By the way, these "readers" are among the top meeting professionals who hold meetings and events in the South.

When planners whose job it is to expect the highest quality facilities and customer service choose your building from 502 other venues, that is incredibly impressive and well-deserved.

From entertainment to expos to private events, and based on its schedule over the next few weeks, the Owensboro Convention Center never sees or offers a dull moment.
