Do You Remember When McDonald’s Sold Pizza?
The other day, my friend Chris Langdon shared a YouTube video from a really cool account called Weird History Food. It was all about the legendary McPizza! Do you remember that? Did you ever try it?
McPizza Memories
I unfortunately did not. However, my husband was reminiscing about stopping on the way home from church on Sundays. He remembers going to the McDonald's in Owensboro on Hwy 60. I've seen lots of folks share their McPizza memories from the late 80s and early 90s.
"I remember and I loved it. I wish they would bring it back!"
"I ate them often. 5 dolla!!"
"As a kid, McDonald's pizza was bangin."
"Sauce was TOO sweet."

McPizzas Sure Were Popular!
My friend Crystal shared with me that she worked at McDonald's during that time, so I asked her what it was like. She worked at the Tell City location, which she was told was the first test location to serve McPizza. "We had cars wrapped around the building, parking across the street at Big Lots when we had $3 pizza night. It was a wild time!"
Why Did McDonald's Stop Serving McPizzas?
Just thinking about a pizza being only $3 is definitely wild to think about now. Those were sold raw at that price for people to take home and bake themselves. Part of the reason McPizza did not stay on the menu was that it took fourteen minutes to bake. That didn't really put the "fast" in "fast food."
McDonald's 'Test Locations' in Owensboro, KY & Evansville, IN
Here is the video Chris shared so you can watch and be transported back in time too. It actually mentions Owensboro, KY and Evansville, IN.
I have some serious FOMO over missing out on the McPizza. I'm definitely jealous of all of you who remember it fondly. Please share your memories with me on the AppChat so I can live vicariously through you!
