These Were the Most Searched Slang Words in Indiana for 2024

A new study has revealed the most searched slang words in Indiana for 2024, and the list definitely includes a few terms that everyday social media users may recognize.

Gone are the days of spending time thumbing through an old paperback dictionary to find the meaning of a word. In the 21st century, a simple Google search will give you the answer in seconds, which is helpful in the age of social media, where new slang words seem to be made up every day. The older I get, the less I pay attention to such things, so it's safe to say my Google searches are much more frequent than they used to be.

Word Unscrambler, an online tool for word games, recently analyzed search data from Google Trends for terms related to slang words. The analysis spanned from January 1, 2024, to October 25, 2024, and identified the top 10 most-searched slang terms in Indiana during 2024. I honestly only recognized a handful on the list, and the ones I didn’t recognize, I don’t think I’ve actually heard in everyday conversation.

"The English language is ever-changing. Every year, new slang words are created. Many slang words are born through trending topics and viral videos on social media," said a spokesperson from Word Unscrambler. "However, only a few manage to stick around long enough to be added to the dictionary and remain in daily use. Slang words are a normal and fun evolution of language. We encourage everyone to learn some new words and surprise their children by using them."
