So You Think You’re Funny? Prove it For the Pitino Shelter

Anybody else out there love stand-up comedy? When I was in college, I traveled with my bestie, who performed his routine to all kinds of crowds. Sometimes he bombed, sometimes he did great, but we had a blast every time! I thought about trying it myself, but always chickened out.

But ya know what? Life is short! It's all about trying new things, even if they are a little scary. Especially when it's for a worthy cause. If you have ever thought about taking a turn in the spotlight, this is your chance! The Daniel Pitino Shelter's annual Stand Up for Families Fundraiser is going to be bigger and better than ever, with more community involvement.

Comedy Night For a Great Cause

Later this Fall, at the beautiful Grand Stables venue here in Daviess County, will be the funniest night of the year. As part of the planning team, I'm gonna go ahead and promise you that. Keep your eyes peeled for when we introduce our headlining comedian, but what we really want is YOU up on stage making us laugh.

Make 'Em Laugh, Baby!

Were you once the class clown in school? I know that never goes away! Is there an archive of hilarious stories squirrelled away in your memories? They need to be shared! Do people always tell you how funny you are? Well, baby, you better get up on that stage and prove it! Steal the show and make a real difference in your community at the same time.

Here are the details:

"For the first time ever, we're opening the stage to local comedians and aspiring funny folks to help us kick off the night! That’s right—3 local comedians will open for our headlining act (to be announced soon), and the audience will vote LIVE the night of the event to crown the Local Comedy Champion."

• Record a 3-5 minute set
• Upload it to YouTube or Vimeo
• Send the link to director@pitinoshelter.org
• Submissions open NOW and close September 1st, 2025
• The chosen acts will be announced via Facebook Live!

When is the 2025 Stand Up For Families Fundraiser?

The night of November 21st, if you are chosen, you'll get up and absolutely slay the crowd. Then the audience will vote to select the official Local Comedy Champion! You'll win a fabulous trophy, bragging rights, and most importantly, you'll be playing a part in the Daniel Pitino Shelter's mission of hope for our friends and neighbors.
