The Chicago Snowballs to Bring Their High-Energy Sportstainment Baseball Show to Huntingburg, IN
Dubois Bombers Keep Bringing Big Fun to Huntingburg Baseball
Even if you do not follow baseball, there’s a pretty good chance you’ve heard of the Dubois Bombers, who play at League Stadium in Huntingburg. Over the past four years, the team has delighted longtime fans and attracted plenty of new ones through wildly creative promotional nights.
I talked with Justin Knepp, Dubois Bombers owner, president, and the mastermind behind events like the 3rd Annual Jorts Baseball Classic, Mullet Mania Night, Swipe Right on a Bomber Night, the history-making Halloween Costume Classic, Bluey for the Kids + Emotional Support Beer for the Parents Night, Bring Your Cat to the Game Night, Admission of Guilt for Free Admission Night, Catch a Live Chicken Named Rocky Bal-Bawk-A Night, and the hugely popular A League of Their Own Night: Peaches vs. Belles Classic.
From Minority Owner to Full-Time Fun Creator
Though Justin was a minority owner of the team for several years, he took over as sole owner and president four years ago. Justin and his wife are both Hoosiers, and his wife is from the Huntingburg area.
As the former owner and operator of Indiana On Tap, Justin already understood the entertainment business and knew how to create experiences people wanted. He said he knows some of the promotions are silly, but baseball should be fun. That has been the mission since he took over. And it is working.
He told me attendance has quadrupled in the last four years.
Always Trying to Be First
Justin also focuses heavily on doing things no one else has done first.
The Bombers were the first real baseball team to play a full game in jean shorts while encouraging fans to break out their best dad jorts. They were also the first to have players dress in costumes and celebrate Halloween in July. Now, League Stadium will be among the first to host the brand-new sportstainment exhibition baseball team, the Chicago Snowballs.
Move Over Savannah Bananas, Meet the Chicago Snowballs
There is a new name in the world of sportstainment baseball, and they are proudly co-ed.
According to the team’s website, the Snowballs were created by friends who loved Chicago sports and missed the energy of classic entertainment spectacles. Founded in 2025, the team combines live baseball with music, comedy, audience participation, and nonstop entertainment.
Why the Snowballs Picked Huntingburg
“They are a perfect fit for us.”
Justin told me the Snowballs originally planned to stay closer to Chicago during their inaugural season. But once they heard about the Bombers’ fun promotions and their A League of Their Own game, they knew it was a match made in heaven.
That means League Stadium in Huntingburg will be the furthest road trip of the year for the Chicago Snowballs.
“These games are going to be unlike anything we’ve ever hosted at League Stadium,” said Knepp in a press release. “There’s clearly a growing interest in this new style of fun, fast-paced, spectacle-type baseball, and that’s exactly what we’re bringing to Dubois County. It’s high energy from start to finish, and our fans are going to love it.”
What Fans Can Expect
The Chicago Snowballs are following the lead of nationally recognized teams that have turned America’s pastime into a full-blown show where the action never stops and fans become part of the experience.
From choreographed dances and on-field antics to surprise moments that keep you laughing, cheering, and wondering what just happened, every inning brings something new.
Fans can expect:
High-energy music
Crowd participation
On-field entertainment
Fast-paced fun
Plenty of baseball mixed with the chaos

Tickets Are Available Right Now
If you follow the Savannah Bananas baseball, you know tickets can be nearly impossible to get. Fans often join waitlists just for a chance to buy them. The Chicago Snowballs are still new, but that likely will not last long.
Tickets are available right now for two special appearances against the Rocket Squirrels at League Stadium:
Saturday, July 25 – Evening game
Sunday, July 26 – Matinee game
Ticket Prices
Adults: $30
Kids: $15
General admission seating will be available.
Justin told me the Snowballs’ ticket team said the Huntingburg games are selling faster than any of their other games this season. They expect a sellout.
Will the Bombers Ever Become a Sportstainment Baseball Team?
I asked Justin the question that plenty of fans are probably wondering. Will the Bombers head down the Banana brick road? While he loves creative promotions and keeping the ballpark fun, do not expect the Bombers to turn into a full-blown sportstainment team anytime soon.
Justin told me he still loves traditional baseball and wants to honor the longtime Bombers fans who come for the game itself, even if they occasionally show up in jorts or see players wearing Halloween costumes on the field.
So yes, expect the wild theme nights. But no, do not expect the Bombers to be shaking their money-makers between innings anytime soon.
The Best of Both Worlds
That may be exactly why the Bombers have found their sweet spot.
They have managed to blend classic baseball with just enough glorious weirdness to keep things fresh. One night, you might get a competitive ballgame. Next, you might witness a chicken named Rocky Bal-Bawk-A stealing the spotlight.
In Huntingburg, tradition still bats cleanup, but fun gets plenty of at-bats too.
