I'll admit, it's been a while since I've had some candy corn. That said, I don't remember it being terrible by any means, which is why I've never understood why many people dislike it so much. Whether you love it or hate it is up to you, but I will say this—there is more than one variety of candy corn on the market worth trying. I recently came across some manufactured by Zachary Confections Inc., located in Frankfort, Indiana, and I must say, they look and sound delicious.

History of Zachary Confections Inc.

Zachary Confections may now be located in Indiana, but the roots of the company can actually be traced back to Chicago, Illinois. It was founded by J.J. Zachary and his wife, Helen, in 1950, starting with the manufacturing of solid and hollow milk chocolate bunnies along with other seasonal novelties. Their son Jack later got involved with sales in 1959, a contribution that allowed the company to acquire other small manufacturers and expand its capabilities and product offerings.

In 1984, Zachary Confections relocated to Frankfort to accommodate their expansion of treats, including chocolate-covered bridge mix, raisins, and peanuts. In 2002, the family expanded into the sugar confections business with the addition of candy corn and other mellow crème products. Currently, Zachary Confections is run by the third generation of Zacharys, producing American-made products for a variety of retailers and specialty stores.

It's safe to say Zachary Confections has come a long way, and they've got a lot to choose from when it comes to everyday and seasonal candy. For Halloween 2024, the company has a couple of candy corn options that are certainly unique. The first features a S'mores flavor with white, brown, and dark brown colors. The second variety of candy corn from Zachary Confections has a Caramel Apple flavor, which I’ve definitely never seen before. I must say, it is refreshing to see a Caramel Apple take on the treat this time of year, instead of pumpkin spice. Now, don’t get me wrong, I like some pumpkin spice, but let’s talk about some other fall flavors once in a while. You can see the description for this candy below:
