As you know, there are a lot of family-friendly places all throughout the state of Indiana. However, one town has been named among the top 10 family-friendly in the country. Any guesses?

When you think of a family-friendly place to visit, a few things might come to mind. Good food, plenty of attractions, maybe amusement parks, sightseeing, shopping, and other things to keep you and the kiddos entertained. There are no shortages in terms of places like that throughout Indiana. As someone who was born and raised here in Indiana, and plans to repeat that with my children, I can honestly say that I'm proud of my home. Granted, I know everyone's situation is different growing up, but I don't think that Indiana is a bad place to raise a family. Aside from the unpredictable weather we have here, Indiana has a lot to offer families. I mean if it was good enough to be Lincoln's boyhood home, it is good enough for everyone else.

Study Finds just named the top ten family-friendly cities in America. Researchers working with Backyard Oasis analyzed the most populated cities in each state, considering crucial factors such as healthcare quality, safety, cost of living, and access to education to determine the best environments for raising a family.  St. Louis claimed the top spot with a composite score of 7.49. That's good news considering, it's not too far from us here in Indiana. Even better news, one Indiana city also made this list.

Indiana City Among Top 10 Family-Friendly Cities in America

Coming in at number nine on the list is Indianapolis, Indiana. Indy received a composite score of 7.18. I'll be honest, it shouldn't come as too much of a surprise that Indianapolis made the cut. There are a lot of things that Indianapolis has to offer families throughout the year, between concerts, sporting events, the zoo, festivals, restaurants, and of course the Children's Museum.

16 Indiana Towns with Dirty-Sounding Names

A majority of these towns were given their names in the mid-to-late 1800s as settlers making their way across the country found unclaimed plots of land and decided to make them their own. While I imagine they thought the names they came up with were innocent, and perhaps a tribute to something in their lives, pop culture has warped our minds to the point since then that we can't help but think of something about the town that was never intended by its founders. Take a look at this list. I guarantee there's at least one name that will make you chuckle.
